I have to agree. I too have decided to pursue a career as a website developer. It started out as a hobby, but now that I really have a lot to offer, I have also become very interested in how to best market what I am doing.

Some days I will spend more time reading newsgroups and posting messages trying to learn more about marketting than I do "working", but it is fun, not WORK, that is why I am still doing it.

I guess it really depends what you want ot get out of starting your own business, as to which direction you take. Are you only in it for the money or do you want to enjoy what you are doing too.

I'd love to do both. Now that I have done quite a bit of learning and spent the last 6 months developing a productI'm going to start on the making money bit. That'll be fun too :-)

I hope you find what you are looking for.

Regards,
Martin

: Then when I started doing web development professionally, it was really a hobby of mine for many years before, so I had an INTEREST in doing it....

: The two KEY factors in running a successful business are:

: 1. You must work in an area that interests you, because you will be motivated to do it until you can develop a cash flow.

: 2. You must take an interest in marketing.

: So I ask you -- if you could do anything; what is it you would like to do?

: Best Regards, Steve MacLellan
