I would be hesitant to pay to join an affiliate program. Most firms don't require you to pay to sign up so that you can sell their products or services. There are a few exceptions but I would be very careful. Many companies that require you to buy their product before you can be a reseller are really interested in selling you their products (not in your success as a reseller). They make most of their profits selling to their resellers!
