Living the Dream!
Business Coach Extraordinaire
by Janet Charette and Darlene Bishop
Wanda Loskot is a bubbly, enthusiastic businesswoman who
speaks very quickly and with authority on a variety of
subjects.
As the owner of Success Connection: Referrals and
Relationship Marketing, Wanda provides "marketing tips,
business strategies and coaching for people who LOVE what
they do but HATE to sell!" Visit Wanda's site at
http://www.loska.com to learn more about her unique
marketing philosophy.
Wanda began business coaching on a part-time until February
of 1997, when she officially left the real estate field to
become go full-time. The nature of the coaching profession
encouraged Wanda to go online in June of that year.
She has served as a lecturer for college and university
courses, and as a paid speaker for large corporations. She
has conducted training courses in self-development, building
self-esteem, dealing with difficult people, and building a
home-based business.
When asked how she got her ideas for the business coaching
theme on her website, Wanda responded: "One early spring
night, three years ago, I woke up in the middle of night
resolved to start an international organization which would
teach people the keys to running an effective business,
including marketing and communication strategies."
"While still selling real estate, I had experienced a surge
of success when I used those same business strategies
myself. It was then that I realized *every* kind of business
service could be systematized and replicated. I had to share
that with the world."
That's when she made the transition to business coaching.
Wanda believes that everything must be broken down
systematically in order to be understood, and that the best
way to learn is to teach - and that's what Wanda does best.
Having been involved in Toastmasters International, she was
inspired by their impeccable system of manuals and their
simple system of replication and duplication which allows
anyone to start a Toastmasters organization from scratch in
any country of the world.
"I had planned to use Toastmasters' methods of
communicating, but then I discovered the Internet," Wanda
states. "This allows me to reach and empower more people
than I ever thought would be possible."
"I am able to coach people on a one-to-one basis, or lecture
to 300. Either way, I am able to communicate and form
lasting relationships versus simply getting customers. I
teach getting customers - which is good. But, in addition, I
teach forming relationships with them."
For Wanda, the Internet's biggest impact has been to shrink
the world - there are now no geographical limitations. Since
she is not limited to her own city, she has become very
selective in choosing her clients. This larger potential
pool has allowed her to have a higher criteria when choosing
whom to work for. She will only work with clients who make
her happy, - and all of her clients become lifelong friends.
Wanda's focus is "Happiness in Business."
"There are so many clients, you can pick the ones that make
you happy and stay away from those who clash," she says.
Wanda says her mission is "to develop lasting friendships
with clients."
It hasn't always been easy. Wanda had to overcome the
learning curve that most new Internet marketers face, but
she was fortunate enough to find a very knowledgeable friend
at the beginning of her Internet career, Matt Hockin of the
Multimedia Marketing Group, an online promotion specialist
and Internet publicist.
"Being in constant contact with a friend who is that
knowledgeable was like having a mentor. I am very grateful
to Matt for helping me to make many important decisions."
Wanda works ten hours a day. She uses Microsoft Outlook to
remind her to go for walks and take her vitamins, and she's
fortunate enough to have a husband who does the laundry. She
has designed her own website and is working on a business
manual and audiotapes based on her experience and knowledge,
which she plans to sell via her site.
She generates income through clients, one-on-one business
coaching and, soon, through the manual and audiotapes.
Occasionally Wanda will barter, and sometimes even provide a
service free.
According to Wanda, advertising doesn't work in the long
run. "It is too expensive and doesn't bring the best quality
customers," she adds.
When asked what does work, she replied "word of mouth."
Wanda believes that referral marketing is the most effective
marketing available.
